Mario Puzo wrote this book from his heart. It is based in c~tinuance his mother's stories that she shared with him. He had worked an administrative job for twenty years and wrote this book in his scanty time. Although "The Fortunate Pilgrim" was greatly acclaimed, he didn't put in order any money and couldn't quit his job as he had to uphold his family. So to make money, he wrote "The Godfather" simply for commercial purposes. He says that even the character of the Godfather is based up~ the body traits of his mother.
